My second ringtone
I will post the ringtone tomorrow, when Tumblr allows me to upload another audio file. I used the imac’s built in microphone to record the Microsoft Word convert-text-to-speech voice emitting from the computer’s built in speakers. I then recorded a playback of that first recording. The loop, “This is a recording, of a recording of a computer talking in a room,” is repeated four times. The first one is the original version. The second steadily slows down the voice. The third reverses bits of the audio. The final loop uses the same sample, but that sample has now been played back and recorded for the twelfth time. What remains, primarily, are the resonant frequencies of the room and the in computer hardware, as well as the dynamic shift of the original recording.
